Measure, Mix, and Bake Chocolate Cake
Makes 9 (2 oz.) servings

Ingredients:
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1/3 cup cocoa baking powder
¾ teaspoon baking soda
1 egg, beaten
½ cup milk
¼ cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
1/2 cup hot water
Powdered sugar (optional garnish)

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour the bottom of an 8-inch pan (round or square).
2. Combine all ingredients except hot water in a medium mixing bowl. Beat for 2 minutes on medium speed with an electric mixer.
3. Stir in the hot water.
4. Pour into the greased and floured 8-inch pan.
5. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Test for doneness in center with a toothpick. Remove from oven and cool on cooling racks before cutting and serving. Dust with powdered sugar, if desired.
