Two Cheese-Bacon Biscuits

Makes 12 biscuits

Ingredients
  • 2 cups Red Band all-purpose flour ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese 2½ tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. salt 1 tsp. instant minced onion 1/8 tsp. pepper 1/3 cup shortening ¾ cup milk ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (2 oz.)
  • ¼ cup bacon-flavored bits or chips

Two Cheese-Bacon Biscuits

Preparation Heat oven to 450°F. Grease a cookie sheet. Mix flour, Parmesan cheese, baking powder, salt, onion, and pepper in a medium bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Stir in milk, cheddar cheese, and bacon bits until a soft dough forms. Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently 10 times. Roll or pat dough to ½-inch thick. Cut with a floured 2½-inch cutter. Place about 1 inch apart on a cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until golden. *If using self-rising flour, omit baking powder and salt.
