Linzer Torte Bars

 

Ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 cup ground walnuts
  • ½ cup (1 stick) margarine or butter, softened
  • ½ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup red raspberry preserves

Linzer Torte Bars

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Mix all ingredients except preserves until crumbly.

Press two-thirds of crumbly mixture in ungreased square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches.

Spread with preserves.

Sprinkle with remaining crumbly mixture; press lightly.

Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool completely. Cut into about 2 x 1-inch bars.

Apricot Linzer Bars: Substitute ground almonds for the ground walnuts and apricot preserves for the raspberry preserves.
