Paint Brush Cookies
with Egg Yolk paint

Preptime: 2 hours
Baking time: 6-8 minutes
Makes: About 2 dozen

Ingredients

Reynolds® Parchment Paper

    Cookies:
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 package (10.9 oz) Rabbit Creek Sugar Mix
    Paint:
  • 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ teaspoon water
  • Food coloring

Preparation

    Cookies
  1. Preheat oven to 375o. 
  2. In large mixing bowl, cream butter until light and fluffy. 
  3. Add egg and vanilla; blend well.
  4. Gradually add cookie mix and blend thoroughly.  Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or until easy to handle.
  5. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to 3/16 inch thickness.  Cut into shapes using a 3-inch cookie cutter.
  6. Place on ungreased baking sheet. 
  7. With a food paint brush; paint designs on cookies with egg yolk paint.  Bake 6 to 8 minutes.  Do not overbake.  Makes abut 2 dozen cookies.
    Paint
  1. Blend yolk and water well in small mixing bowl. 
  2. Divide mixture into several small custard cups. 
  3. Add a different food coloring to each cup.  (Use food coloring paste to make bright colors.)  If “paint” thickens add a few drops of water.
