The Home Baking Association (HBA) gathered in Delray Beach, Florida, for an engaging Annual Meeting that brought together baking industry leaders and educators from across the country. The picturesque city, known for its lively main street, beautiful beach weather, and rich cultural heritage, set the perfect backdrop for this year’s event.

The meeting kicked off on the evening of October 20th with a reception and inspirational presentation by Noah Rabinowitz, the 2024 Bake to Give: Maddie Kruse Youth Award winner. The next morning, Attendees toured American Sugar Refining (ASR Group) Agriculture Center of Excellence, where they were offered an in-depth exploration of sugar farming and milling, learning how sugarcane is grown in a sustainable way.

Throughout the meeting, participants engaged in knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities. The program showcased the latest baking trends, ensuring everyone walked away with new ideas and connections. A special highlight included the presentation, “Sugar Science: How Does it Make a Difference in Baking Cookies?” by Domino Sugar Corporate Chef, Eleonora Lahud.

The meeting concluded with the President’s Dinner, where Georgia Family & Consumer Science Educator Melinda Keenan was presented with the 2024 Educator Award for her lesson plan, “Nutrient Rich Baking: Incorporating the 6 Essential Nutrients.” The lesson will be included in next year’s slate of HBA educational resources offered to those who teach baking in communities across the country.
