This incredibly tasty and hearty bread has a distinctive flavor. Although popularized by American colonists, a version of this recipe (unleavened) was originated by Native American tribes along the east coast.

Ingredients
- 1 cup acorn meal
- 1 cup flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk
- 3 tablespoons oil
- If desired, add seeds or chopped nuts for texture
Instructions
- Heat oven to 400 degrees.
- Sift together dry ingredients in a bowl
- In a separate bowl, combine egg, milk, and oil.
- Bring together dry and wet ingredients, and stir long enough to moisten the dry ingredients. It's okay if the batter is lumpy
- Pour into a greased or sprayed pan, bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes.
