From the Cookbook Baking with Friends
One of our favorite baking activities at Home Baking Association is the Quilt Patch Cake, as it is loved by children of all ages. Baking is a wonderful activity that reinforces a lot of skills for our children such as reading and measuring, shopping at the grocery store, and learning about good nutritional skills in the kitchen.
This activity has a lot of flexibility for all ages and skill sets because you can simply use a cake mix, or select a more complex recipe if you’d like. We will decorate a 9×13 layer cake as part of the activity. There is no doubt your kids will love and be so proud of the cake they make.
