About Recipe Grading

Beginner:  8 or less ingredients; two to three steps  measuring, mixing, preparing one pan; may require one rolling step; doesn’t use stove top; boiling liquids might require adult help.

Intermediate:  8 or more ingredients; two or three steps to complete; measuring, mixing, dough is a heavier dough to work with for kneading; knife skills to cut needed;  one finishing technique added after baking.

Advanced:  more than 10 ingredients needed; multiple extra prep steps; unusual or high cost ingredients required; one or more (garnishing, plating, frosting) added finishing technique required; rolling or cutting or piping needed.

Culinary:  intended for a classroom or professional bakery setting; educational or commercial purposes.
